My Digital Diary Day 21: February 5, 2023

Morning session was taken by Mr Sunil Saini, Course Coordinator and advised participants how to implement the learnings of the course at their respective libraries.  

I got understanding that it should be a systematic process rather than doing everything in a haphazard manner.  We had group presentations also. Our group  made and presented Bibliography of books for teachers. I also got understanding of teachers award.  The session was concluded with conferring certificates to the participants.

My Digital Diary Day 20: February 4, 2023

Library tools were discussed like Padlet, how to make quiz in quizzes, facebook page, QR code, etc. Next topic was Story based Pedagogy which is also a demand of NEP 2020. Many concepts like what is story, benefits of stories were discussed in detail. During second half we completed our individual work, contributed in group work, editorial committee, etc.  

My Learning Diary Day 19: February 3, 2023

Library advocay was the topic taken up by Ms Neeza Singh from TS Central Library.  She is Librarian over there.  I got more ideas from her about classroom library activities and activities for upper classes. We visited TS Central Library and got many ideas about collection development as well as presentation. It was also the day for Examination.  

My Learning Diary Day 18: February 2, 2023

I learnt about Class Library Management. Besides this during online session with Mr Mujib Rahiman  he insisted that it is high time to redesign the services of libraries according to the current demand of users. He also shared his experiences of USA visit under Fullbright scholarship. 

Mr S L Faisal shared some important information about SLA and its role in promoting library services in schools along with some interesting facts related to this association's activities. 

Fourth session was utilized in completing group assignments by participants.

All the best to me for tomorrow's exam.

My Learning Diary Day 17: February 1, 2023

 

Today's session was action research. We learned that it improves classroom teaching and can be applied to library services.

We also had a session on work ethics, which was fun to watch students get involved in. Some questions related to Google Sheet, Google Drive, Google Docs and Slides were resolved by Mr Adesh resource person. I also got involved in group projects and worked with editorial committee.

My Learning Diary Day 16: January 31, 2023

 

Intellectual Property Rights, Copyright and Plagiarism were the topics which that taken up by Mr Rupak Chakravorty today. Intellectual property is an expression that encompasses both industrial property and works protected by the Copyright Law. Intellectual Property Rights are the rights given to persons over the creations of their minds.  They usually give the creator an exclusive right over the use of his/her creation for certain period of time.  

There are two types of Intellectual Property: 

(i)  Industrial Property which includes Patents for inventions, individual designs, trademarks and                 geographical indications

(ii) Copyright and related rights cover  literary, artistic and scientific works, including                                 performance and broadcasts

Patent is an exclusive rights granted to an invention. 

Trademark is a sign capable of being represented graphically and which is capable of distinguishing goods or services of one undertaking from those of another undertaking.

Geographical indications possess quality, reputation or characteristics that are essentially attributable to that place of origin. 

Copyright or author's right is a legal term used to describe the rights that creators have in their literary, artistic and scientific works.   

The other topic discussed was Creative Commons. Six core CC license combinations were also discussed.  

Vocational courses were also discussed. It was quite an interesting class.  Course coordinator suggested important  chrome extensions named Wordtune an Screencastify.

There were some demo presentations. All were wonderful. I gained some ideas from them also like human library, Regional Language collection development, etc.

My Learning diary Day 15: January 30, 2023

Book Clubs are advocated by New Education Policy 2020 in school and public libraries.  Therefore it is the demand of our profession that we have to pay more emphasis on formation and functioning of Book Clubs.  This was the topic taken up by Mr. Saini.  He talked about need, formation, requirement, activities, etc. of the Book Club and I understood the topic well.

Since technology is moving at a fast pace we have to get themselves well acquainted with technology.  Our next session was on new trends in libraries.  I learned web 2.0/3.0, social media and its application in libraries, virtual reference service, RSS, semantic web, 3D web, media centric web, the pervasive web, cloud computing, QR codes, big data, etc.

My fellow participants actively delivered their demo presentations.  They were too good.  We also geared up to prepare our Reading List for Teachers. Last date for submission is 2nd Feb 2023.
